Will Wilkinson explica detalhadamente porque razão as contrapartidas do acordo entre republicanos e democratas, que permitirá aumentar o limite de endividamento do governo federal, são risíveis. Como se pode comprovar pelo gráfico infra, o acordo nem prevê uma redução efectiva da despesa.
